Hello and Welcome!
I am Eugenia

I am a licensed Psychotherapist in California and a licensed Psychologist in Argentina dedicated to supporting individuals (adults and children) on their journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.  I am also a Doctor in Social Sciences, and a published author (in Spanish and English) specializing in children, adults, women’s health, and expats.

I love dogs (specially mine, Coco & Eva!), traveling, and working out. I am a foodie, so I like cooking and trying new foods and cuisines, specially homemade food and molecular gastronomy. I enjoy intellectually interesting conversations, coming back to “mi Buenos Aires querido”, and quality time with my loved ones. I have always had a natural inclination toward healthy lifestyles, and nothing gets me more excited than discovering the cultural life of big cities, as well as being in nature and enjoying the sound of silence, birds, and insects. I am also so passionate about this work of helping people heal and thrive that with over two decades of experience in the field of mental health, I re-did my whole career as a psychotherapist in California to meet the state legal requirements.

My approach:
KINTSUGI, a metaphor for the gift of therapy

+ 1064_AFS_Tarzibachi_20231027 3FS08387.jpg

I like to think about therapeutic process through the metaphor of KINTSUGI, also known as “golden repair”. The word ‘kintsugi’ comes from the Japanese words kin (gold) and tsugi (join). The art of kintsugi involves putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold. The repaired cracks of the pottery represent the healing process and the creation of an even more beautiful piece enhancing the broken pieces instead of hiding them.

Imperfections are beautiful. Kintsugi is more than a form of art, it is a philosophy. It elevates the beauty and functionality of a broken object. According to this philosophy, a break is not a loss but a form of existence. Certain events in human lives can leave deep wounds, sometimes scars, that seem impossible to repair. However, overcoming and fixing them with valuable, stronger bonds is also part of life. Rather than discarding the broken parts of an object, they are intentionally accentuated, to make them a part of its history. Kintsugi is a struggle against fragmentation, it highlights the progress from the moment a piece was first broken. Vulnerability is welcomed and strengthened; no aspect of human existence is considered a flaw.

Over the past 20+ years of experience in the field of mental health, my clients have repeatedly shared with me that I have a warm, non-judgemental, compassionate, sharp, insightful, and, when needed, direct style as a psychotherapist. I approach consultations by listening carefully, being curious to understand the complexity of human symptoms. Only after that crucial step for you and for me, I provide reflection, tools, and support needed to move past the experiences that are keeping you stuck and to enable you to get back to living fully.

I have acquired an extensive and culturally sensitive toolkit of psychotherapy practices, which enables me to customize treatments to the unique situation of each of my clients. As applicable, I will work collaboratively with other members of your care team to create a positive synergy and ensure a cohesive plan. Finally, I believe that mental health is intertwined with your physical, social, and spiritual health.

How I work

1305_AFS_Tarzibachi_20231027 1FS03717.jpg

I GET TO KNOW YOU

I want to get to know you to understand  how I can best support you. First, we will do an initial consultation where we evaluate whether we are a good fit. If we aren’t, I will provide you some referrals. If we are, we will schedule an initial appointment. I will send you paperwork to complete, and after that, we will start our first 5 sessions whereby I conduct a thorough assessment. If my client is a child, the first session or two is with the child’s parents.

WE CREATE A PLAN

After session 5, we collectively determine the best therapy to use as a course of treatment, and equip you (and your child if you are consulting for them) with the tools you need to make progress outside of the therapy office.

I SUPPORT YOU ON YOUR THERAPY JOURNEY

We keep our communication open. If you are consulting for your child, we will do it while protecting confidentiality so your child can feel safe to express themselves, while you have the comfort of knowing what progress is being made. I cannot predict the length of treatment to achieve the therapeutic goals. I don’t rush the process even though I will strategize on how we can measure your progress. I will follow you and meet you where you are at.

Get Started!

If you are requesting Parent Child Interaction Therapy, my services have a different structure and different fee.The average length of PCIT therapy is 14-16 sessions, with PCIT services most frequently delivered once per week (60-minute weekly sessions).

Some families complete PCIT therapy in less than 12 sessions, while other families take more than 20 sessions to meet treatment graduation requirements.
